This Near Zero Energy Home is built 80% more energy efficient than a standard house built to code.  The Near Zero Energy Home includes a 6.5 KW solar electrical PV system that will generate approximately 90% of the house’s electrical needs.  The PV System is tied into the main electrical grid for “net metering”, which allows for money back from Xcel when the house is generating more electricity than its using.  House also has very energy efficient Compact Florescent and LED lighting. 

 

The HVAC system is state of the art and very energy efficient with a Rheem 94% efficient furnace, 16.7 seer A/C, Tamarak Ghost whole house fan, Whole House Heat Recovery Ventilation, Energy star rated exhaust fans.  The house’s water supply is also heated by a solar panel system on the roof, with a 120 gallon storage tank in basement, supplying approximately 90% of hot water needs and a back up Rheem tankless hot water heater.  

 

Many water saving features are also included: Duel flush 1.6/0.8 gallon toilets, water saving irrigation controls, low flow faucets, and an automatic hot water re-circulation line in house that delivers fast hot water to every faucet location.

 

The Home is also registered in the Built Green of Colorado, Environments for Living (EFL) and the EPA’s Energy Star programs.
